Office Makeover

Creative Work Space

Have you ever worked in a space that didn’t inspire you … in fact it de-energised you and made you feel flat and uninspired!!!  And, you would lie in bed and secretly wish that someone would come and do an office makeover for you.

Well, I have … now I’m not saying that my old office uninspired me … but it was cluttered, the energy became stagnant and I started avoiding working in it.

There were books shoved into bookshelves … there was no order … yet I knew where everything was … but it wasn’t what I would call my “creative nook”.

That was until I had an office makeover recently.  And this is the result!!!

Julie Lewin Collage Art “Spring”

YES … I’m delighted.

I can’t wait to get up in the morning and come down to my office.  I look at my amazing art that I created for just $12 each and I’m transported into another dimension.

And, I’m astounded that I created it.

When you are creative … do you feel as thought you journey into the Divine Domain and lose all sense of time and space … and when you come out back to the physical world (some might say reality) say to yourself:

“WOW, did I really create that???”

Well … that’s how it is for me when I do these collages.  It takes me away from the outer world, into my inner world … that is instinctive and intuitive … and it flows.  It is serene and peaceful and time seems to stand still.

I believe everyone needs something that transports them into that place.  What is yours?

Before I get too carried away, better get back to your work space … here are some tips for you that I found worked for me:

5 Tips For Your Office Makeover

  1. Get some help:  I had been in my office for 2 1/2 years and “stuff” had accumulated and it just seemed easier to leave it than transform it.  Also, if you do a makeover on your own – the job seems like a mountain that you have to climb over.
  2. Decide on a budget: this will determine where you buy the things you need for your makeover.  I didn’t want to spend too much money, and I love to do my collage art, so I bought second hand frames and created my own artwork for the walls.  While hunting for frames, I found a few pieces for under $60 that finished the room off nicely.
  3. Sort “stuff” after the makeover: just get in there and take everything out of the space.  Because if you sort it before the makeover, you won’t do the makeover, you’ll keep putting it off as it is also a big job.
  4. Choose some creative colours to paint your walls:  I used yellow (to brighten my day) and purple (activates spiritual realms) as my colours as this is the niche I work in.  Don’t be afraid to go BOLD with your colours … but they do need to resonate with you – as you will be the one working with them.
  5. KEEP it clean and tidy: the most important thing after a makeover is to keep it that way.

I had a blast doing my office makeover and transforming my creative space.

I would love to hear how you have transformed your office or sacred space.
